Dr. Sam J.W. Romeo

Sam Romeo, MD. MBA is a nationally recognized health care administrator and physician with over 30 years of experience. He received his B.S. degree from St Mary’s College, California, M.D. degree from St Louis University School of Medicine, and M.B.A. from National University. With the integrity he exudes and the warmth in his handshake, even his barber doesn't’t know that he has served as the President/CEO of medical groups as large as 3,000 physicians strong, has held senior faculty and deanship positions at the USC School Of Medicine, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and St. Louis University School of Medicine, and has been the CEO and Medical Director of Health Maintenance Organizations in California, Florida, and New York.

He continues to be tirelessly committed to improving health care on a national level and participates in such organizations as the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Care (AAAHC) which insures quality standards are met by medical facilities. He has served on the AAAHC Board of Directors, AAAHC Institute for Quality Improvement (IQI) Board of Trustees, and is currently a methodologist in the American Medical Association (AMA) Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement which is developing evidence-based performance measurement sets for physicians to enhance the quality of patient care. Dr Romeo has lectured, been published, and consulted around the country on medical ethics, managed care, family practice, outcomes measurement that reflect the quality in health care, quality improvement, and the role of academic health care centers in the managed care environment.

Although he has achieved immeasurable success and recognition as a physician, university professor, academic official, and business executive, when asked, “What are you most proud of?” He responds without hesitation, “My family.” A man born and raised on a desolate ranch in Northeast Nevada and the first person in his family to go to college, he beams when sharing that 5 of his 6 children are practicing physicians and the 6th child has her Master’s Degree in Social Work (a Licensed Clinical Social Worker). True to form, he humbly credits his wife Patty of 45 years for this “true accomplishment.” Optimistic, reflective and a leader by example, it’s not a wonder why he is known by most as “Papa”…

Dr. Lisa Romeo McMillan

Lisa Romeo McMillan was born in St. Louis, Missouri while her father attended medical school at Saint Louis University. She spent the majority of her childhood in Idaho but family moves brought her to California and Florida for high school. She then moved back to St. Louis, where she attended college at Saint Louis University. After graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in biology, she moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

During medical school she met Eric McMillan, whom she married after graduation. They moved on to Fort Worth, Texas where Lisa completed a residency in Family Practice and Eric completed a residency in Orthopedic Surgery. Lisa became Board Certified by the American Academy of Family Practitioners in 1996 and accepted a teaching position at the residency program she had attended.

Once Eric completed his residency program, they moved to Richmond, Virginia where she provided care to patients in a private Family Medicine clinic while Eric undertook fellowship training in Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine. They then moved to Turlock, California in 1998 to open their own practices. After two years in solo practice, Lisa found herself struggling with the balance between work and family life. With a new baby and no one to “watch the shop” while she was away from the office, she made the difficult decision to close her private practice.

When her brothers Drs. Mike and Sam Romeo opened Romeo Medical Clinic in 2002, Lisa was able to resume practice part-time with the knowledge that her patients were receiving outstanding care both when she was in the office and when she was away! Lisa and Eric have a daughter Katy, born in 1998, and a son Sean, born in 2004.

Dr. Eric McMillan

Dr. Eric McMillan, board-certified orthopedic specialist and founder of Central Cal Orthopedic, established his leading reputation in the medical community by utilizing advanced arthroscopic and other minimally invasive techniques to help patients recover faster with less pain and disability. Drawing from his training under some of the most prominent experts in the field, Dr. McMillan treats complex shoulder and other bone and joint problems using conservative and, where necessary, sound, minimally invasive surgical techniques to get patients back to activities without delay.

A native of Oregon, Dr. McMillan attended the University of California, San Diego where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree before going on to graduate with honors from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He completed his training in Orthopedic Surgery in Ft. Worth, Texas where he was named Intern of the Year and served as Chief Resident.

Dr. McMillan’s interest in sports-related injuries and minimally invasive treatment led him to a prestigious Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine fellowship, a year of training beyond what most orthopedists complete, in Richmond, Virginia. There, he worked with some of the orthopedic community’s most respected experts. Under the guidance of Dr. Richard Caspari, one of the pioneers of arthroscopic shoulder reconstruction, Dr. Terry Whipple, one of the world’s foremost wrist and elbow arthroscopists, and Dr. John Meyers, who served as president of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and chief physician of the Winter Olympics, Dr. McMillan gained invaluable knowledge and hands-on skills in minimally invasive treatment of the high-demand patient.

In addition to serving as head physician for athletic programs ranging from high school to professional level, Dr. McMillan has published and taught extensively on arthroscopic surgical techniques.
